Police Release 911 Call in Iowa City Murders

IOWA CITY - Tuesday the Johnson County Sheriff's Office released the 9-1-1 call that led authorities to the murder scene of Steven Sueppel's family.

In it, police say Steven Sueppel gives an address to the dispatcher and hangs up.

Dispatch: This is 9-1-1. Location of your emergency? Hello?
Caller: Am I talking to Iowa City?
Dispatch: No this is ... Where, What is the location of your emergency?
Caller: Iowa City, Iowa.
Dispatch: What's is the address?
Caller:629 Barrington Road. Please go there immediately.
Dispatch:What's going on there?
Caller hangs up.

That call led police to the Sueppel home.
The responding officer entered the house through an unlocked door and found one of the children dead- with what the officer thought were gunshot wounds.
Police now say no gun was involved- but the cause of death was likely blunt force trauma.
