Fire Destroys Historic Breitbach Restaurant

BALLTOWN - KCRG TV-9 Crews are on the scene of a fire that has consumed a historic restaurant on Christmas Eve.

Workers were preparing holiday meals inside the restaurant when they heard an explosion in the basement.  Breitbach’s Country Dining dates back six generations and is still managed by the Breitbach family. The restaurant and bar is Iowa’s longest running bar.

Owner Mike Breitbach and several others were in the building this morning, but all managed to escape unhurt.
