CEDAR FALLS, Iowa (AP) — A historic home built in 1907 is set to be put on the northeastern Iowa housing market.
The Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier reports that the George Wyth House will be sold by the Cedar Falls Historical Society. It will be available for $325,000 as of Monday morning.
The home originally belonged to its namesake, who helped found Viking Pump Co. It was given to the historical society in 1979 when George’s daughter, Dorothy Wyth, died.
The executive director of the historical society says the home’s future has been unclear for about a decade. She says it was a successful museum when it first opened to the public but has become static over the years.
Members of the organization’s board voted unanimously to sell the house and donate proceeds to the Wyth Trust.
