Location, Location, Location....
CEDAR RAPIDS – So you signed up to get Campbell’s Clues early… spent hours researching online, then even more time on foot feverishly searching for the KCRG-TV9 Hawkeye Gold Ticket, just to learn someone found it before you? Then for the past week you’ve been retracing your steps, and reading the clues over and over again to see if you were right.
Now we reveal the location and the work that goes into writing the clues. The ticket was found by Galen Buscher of Swisher on this bridge along Coralville’s Clear Creek Greenbelt trail. Here’s our explanation of the clues, how close were you? CLUE #1 - Surrounded by pink, visitors get dressed. The search for the gold ticket starts to the west. To the Hawkeye die-hards, this was an obvious clue to Kinnick’s famous pink visitors locker-room. So mark that on your maps, and cross off everything to the east. CLUE #2 - A shiny gold ticket is tricky to hide. If you keep looking here, you’ll have a rough ride. This clue has a dual meaning. No, not the Hawkeye Express… the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders. Eliminate Cedar Rapids from the search. CLUE #3 - Lots of Hawks fun in your future I see. Don’t look far from this city if you want to find me. We needed to make things a little easier. So this play on words, “I see”, should let you know it’s not far from Iowa City. CLUE #4 - Follow the charge of Karro’s Fry. Don’t travel too far, for the ticket’s nearby. This clue required a little field trip. Karro’s Fry would be the Hayden Fry Herky on Parade at the Roy G. Karro building, better known as the UI Athletics Hall of Fame. Front and center in the lobby the Hayden Herky is proudly leading a charge in the direction of the ticket. CLUE #5 - Soon you’ll add a notch to your belt. Searching this ‘villes green will keep you looking svelte. The clues do get easier, however, you needed to dissect this clue to have it pinpoint the area where the ticket was hiding. The “ville” is Coralville, and its “green” would be the Greenbelt trail, the latter part hiding in the first sentence. Apparently too many people had golf on the brain. CLUE # 6 - To find the gold ticket go take a stroll. You’re in the right spot when you encounter a troll. We figured some of you would be in the right area, but needed a nudge in the right direction. This obvious bridge reference should have narrowed it down to the 3 that are along the trail. This is all that would be needed for the ticket to be found. (Unreleased) CLUE #7 -When finding the ticket there’s no reason to fly, but along this clear path, a delta is nearby. There are three entrances to the Greenbelt trail in Coralville. The ticket was hidden on the bridge just a few feet away from where those paths meet to form a triangle, or delta. (Unreleased) CLUE #8 - Between the express and a field nearby, stand above the current to find where I reside. Many of you thought the second clue made a reference to the train, you weren’t far off geographically. This clue makes another reference to the bridge, and would help you narrow it to an area along the tracks. (Unreleased) CLUE #9 - Don’t fall from the bridge you could get a welt, the ticket is hiding along the greenbelt. Let’s all be glad it didn’t get to this point. If your name is not Galen Buscher and you'd still like to get your hands on some tickets, call 1(800)-IA-HAWKS or visit www.hawkeyesports.com. More Good Stuff |
