Thousands Head to Downtown Cedar Rapids Farmers' Market

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -Tens of thousands of people got out to enjoy Saturday's beautiful weather at the first downtown Cedar Rapids Farmers' Market of the season even as it came in a hectic time for many people watching area river levels rise.
"When it's pouring rain and it's lightning no one is going to bring the family out," said Clover Hill Creations owner Tim Palmer.
But a pleasant forecast lured people like Jenni Winterhof and family out of their homes to the streets of downtown Cedar Rapids.
"It's always in the back of our minds and we're just waiting to see what happens, but definitely not deterring us from coming out," Winterhof said.
Longtime market vendor Dill's Kettlecorn kept a more than a decade long tradition going while using a light breeze to attract old and new customers.
"I think the smell, the smell gets them," said Dill.
