Cedar Rapids Brush Fire Backs Up I-380 Traffic, Threatens Some Homes
By Chris Earl, Reporter
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa –A large, brush fire along Interstate 380 was a pain for both fire crews and travelers this afternoon.
That fire stretched from a field located a bit north of the 76th Avenue overpass, to a neighborhood near the end of J street Southwest.
Traffic was temporarily backed up in the northbound lanes of I-380 for about an hour this afternoon. Crews from multiple agencies worked to extinguish the fire before it spread to neighboring housing developments. Though no homes were impacted.
At least ten trucks responded, some brush trucks - special trucks designed to battle grass fires.
