JESUP, Iowa - Two people are dead following a murder-suicide that shook the town of Jesup Wednesday night.
The Buchanan County Attorney's Office now confirms both Lindsay Nichols, 22, of Evansdale and Dr. Timothy Roses, 44, of Waterloo died from gun shot wounds.
Authorities say Roses shot Nichols in the chest and then shot himself.
Nichols knew Roses, a Texas radiologist, through Covenant Medical Center where she had studied radiology, said John Brandenburg, an uncle of Nichols. Brandenburg said Roses had followed Nichols to a Jesup address Wednesday before the murder-suicide took place.
An official with Convenant Medical Center told KCRG.com that Dr. Timothy Roses worked out of Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo but was not employed by the hospital. He worked for Healthcare Solutions.
Nichols was a 2008 graduate of East High School in Waterloo. Her father, Thomas Nichols is a Black Hawk County deputy sheriff. Her grandfather, Ron Nichols, is a former mayor of Evansdale. The family is not making a comment at this time. Arrangements are pending at Kearns-Huisman-Schumacher Funeral home, Kimball Ave Waterloo.
