Palo to Issue Voluntary Evacuations

PALO, Iowa - The city of Palo announced that voluntary evacuations will be issued as the city prepares for a crest of 17 feet, late Saturday night into Sunday morning.

The voluntary evacuations will impact residents in the following areas: East end of Main Street Linn Drive, Drake Drive, Stephen Street,
Thompson Drive, Denise Drive, Lincoln Drive, Phil Lane, Church Street, Dale Lee Drive, 1st Street to Main Street.

Officials said they do no expect that other areas of Palo will be affected by river water, but they may be affected by ground water.

Sand and sandbags are available for residents at the city maintenance building, located next to the Palo Fire Department.
