Spectators flocked to the Coralville Reservoir in the days before the water went over the spillway. One of the hot topics during the Flood of 2008 was when would the water get high enough to overtake the spillway, taking away the Army Corps of Engineers ability to control the speed of the Iowa River downstream (Iowa City and Coralville).
