Cedar Falls residents look at the Cedar River to see how high the flood waters have risen near downtown Cedar Falls, Iowa, Tuesday, June 10, 2008. The rising Cedar River was causing the most concern in Cedar Falls, where officials were preparing residents and downtown business owners to evacuate as the river threatened to spill over a levee that protects the area. CORALVILLE - The US Army Corps of Engineers indicated that water flowed over the spillway of the Coralville Reservoir prior to 9 pm on Tuesday, June 10.

Flood preparations continue in Coralville as the Reservoir's outflow impacts the Iowa River and Clear Creek, as well as homes and businesses in the community.

Sandbagging volunteers are needed from 8 am until 8 pm on Wednesday, June 11, at the Coralville Streets Department at 750 Camp Cardinal Boulevard. This is located south of Highway 6 across from McGregor's Furniture. Volunteer assistance is appreciated for any length of time and gloves and shovels are recommended. The sandbags will be used by the City as they become available to protect areas deemed to be most in danger of flooding based on elevations in areas along Clear Creek. City crews and volunteers built a sandbag wall along the south side of Clear Creek on June 10. This area, from 1st Avenue to the Clear Creek Bridge behind the businesses along Highway 6, was deemed to have the lowest elevations and therefore to be the most susceptible to flooding. Additional sandbag walls will be built as volunteers, crews, and supplies become available.

Edgewater Drive and 4th Avenue from Highway 6 to 5th Street remain closed.
