These community partners are assisting organizations like The Salvation Army in managing donations and assisting flood victims. The Salvation Army is currently preparing to open a disaster recovery center. Assistance for Linn County/Cedar Rapids residents affected by area flooding is expected to begin this week. Additional information regarding days/hours of operation and assistance to be provided will be released as soon as it is available.

The Salvation Army is continuing to feed and hydrate throughout the flood affected areas. The Army is now operating several fixed feeding sites including the parking lot of its building at 1000 C Avenue NW and the Palo fire department. These sites are providing lunch and dinner meals and hydration.

The Army is also operating mobile feeding units known as canteens. The canteens are providing food and hydration in the field going from neighborhood to neighborhood serving both residents and emergency workers. To date, The Army has served meals and hydration to 50,000 individuals.

The Salvation Army has enlisted resources from its divisional and territorial headquarters to support the recovery efforts in Cedar Rapids. Teams of specially trained Salvation Army officers, staff and volunteers from neighboring states are also assisting the local corps in coordinating its response.

The Army and other service organizations are looking for volunteers to assist in many different capacities. For more information on volunteer opportunities, contact:
