First Flooded Business Reopens on CV Strip

First Flooded Business Reopens on CV Strip

CORALVILLE - Independence Day marks a positive sign for businesses in Coralville. After taking on more than 15 inches of water during the flood, the Sonic Drive-In on the strip re-opened Friday. It is the first business on the strip to take on major flooding and re-open in the same spot. And the business got a big boost from the Coralville parade crowd. Owner Lynn Hennings said, "We wanted to get going, show that we're coming back, show that the flood's not going to win and that we're here and ready to go." The Iowa City Area Chamber of Commerce has a growing list of businesses opening following the flooding.
