CEDAR RAPIDS - The City of Cedar Rapids wants to remind everyone about garbage collection while flood cleanup continues.

People cleaning out homes in the original flood-evacuated area must separate materials set out on the curb in piles of appliances, hazardous waste, electronics, lawn goods such as mowers and snow throwers, and fluorescent light bulbs.

The city says effective Monday, people outside the original flood evacuated areas must follow all regular garbage collection rules including the tags for extra garbage.

There are no suspensions of regular weekly garbage, yard waste, or recycling collection service outside the flood areas.
