Culver Announces Emergency Grants

DES MOINES (AP) - Governor Chet Culver has announced $17.1 million in National Emergency Grant funding for the state of Iowa.

Culver says the money will go to 54 projects. View Projects. The governor expects the projects to employ more than 550 people. Linn County, which has suffered heavily from flooding, is expected to receive 12 projects and employ more than 300 Iowans.

The National Emergency Grant is designed to provide employment opportunities for individuals who have become unemployed as a result of natural disasters.

Iowans who are interested in applying for the program are being asked to apply at their local Iowa Workforce Development Office.
