FEMA to Buy More Mobile Homes for Flood Victims

By Becky Ogann

CEDAR RAPIDS (AP) - More mobile homes could arrive by early September for Iowa flood victims.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency will take bids on 200 manufactured homes next week, which will nearly double the number of the homes in Iowa.

FEMA spokesman John Saggese says the purchase is part of FEMA's effort to help the state get 15 families a day into temporary housing.

So far, there are 234 occupied FEMA homes in Iowa, with 207 of them in Linn County.
