The 21st Annual BBQ Roundup presented by Veridian Credit Union will take place as scheduled, June 26-29, 2008, giving the community an opportunity to come together in compassion and camaraderie. The South Kingston Parking Lot will serve as a temporary home for the festival as clean-up of the original site gets underway.

“We appreciate the willingness of Kingston, the Kernels and Veterans Memorial Stadium, agreeing to share the parking lot with us. We know all area businesses are doing everything they can to accommodate disaster relief efforts,” said Scott Schoenike, Executive Director for VenuWorks of Cedar Rapids. “We will produce a first-class BBQ and provide a brief escape for the community during these trying times.”

One way of giving back to the community will be for the BBQ Roundup to “Pack the POD” with supplies for United Way partner agencies. At this time we are told that area food pantries are in need of non-perishable food items. Additionally, anyone that was living in the 500 year flood plain will be given complimentary admission to the event.

Patrons can still expect award winning BBQ and for the first time ever enjoy carnival rides provided by Evans United Shows, an air conditioned tent in The Miller Chill Zone and larger than life monster truck rides on “Bear Foot”! Back by popular demand are the Best Buy Game Zone, Duffy’s Classic Car Show, the BBQ Art Market and BBQ Expo.

Daily admission to the BBQ Roundup is just $3.00, or $2.00 with your Freedom Festival button. Kids 12 and under are admitted free. On Friday, your admission includes Kenny Wayne Shepherd in concert courtesy of General Mills and The ESCO Group!

Plenty of free parking is available in the lots surrounding Kingston Stadium, Veterans Memorial Stadium and the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena.

The hours of the BBQ Roundup have changed slightly. They are as follows:

Thursday, June 26, 3 p.m. - 10 p.m.
Friday, June 27, 11 a.m. – 11 p.m.
Saturday, June 28, 11 a.m. – 11 p.m.
Sunday, June 29, 11 a.m. - 7 p.m.
