Residents of Flooded Section of Waterloo Robbed

By Becky Ogann

WATERLOO (AP) - A handful of Waterloo residents driven from their homes during June flooding were robbed last weekend.

About five people who had lived on Sans Souci Island returned to their property Monday. They discovered that thieves had stolen thousands of dollars in possessions from their garages.

The stolen goods included items residents were able to salvage from their flooded homes and the tools they were using to repair the damage.

Residents have been living elsewhere since an evacuation in early June. Power to the island has been off for weeks.
