DES MOINES (AP) - Gov. Chet Culver is speaking to the Iowa Business Council Annual Conference, where he plans to discuss the state's budget.

Culver will speak to the council at 5:30 on Monday afternoon at the Hotel Fort Des Moines in downtown Des Moines.

Culver plans to discuss the state's budget and the current economic situation in the state of Iowa.

Top aides recently announced that the governor was scrapping a proposal to sell or lease the Iowa Lottery to cover state budget shortfalls.
