DES MOINES (AP) - Leaders in the Iowa Legislature are agreeing to delay a $56 million flood relief package until state agencies can review the plan to ensure it doesn't put federal money at risk.

Legislators had hoped to approve the package this week and get it to Gov. Chet Culver by Monday, but the governor says the agencies need a couple days to study the plan. It includes $24 million in housing assistance, $22 million in grants to communities and $10 million for individual assistance other than housing, such as mental health counseling.

The programs will be run by the Department of Human Services, Department of Economic Development, Iowa Finance Authority and the Rebuild Iowa Office.
