Modem Problem Delayed Linn County Results

By Dave Franzman, Reporter

LINN COUNTY - The election results from Linn County came in a bit slower than expected.

Linn County Auditor Joel Miller had expected at least half the totals by 9:30 p.m. Tuesday night. It took at least an hour longer than that.

Miller says the modems on the new voting machines mandated by the state didn't transmit totals electronically to the Auditor's office.

So election workers had to drive in the results. That took a lot longer than expected.

Miller says he plans to work on the problem for the next election.
