THE RACE: The presidential race in Iowa.
THE NUMBERS:
Barack Obama, 55 percent
John McCain, 40 percent
In January, Obama finished first in Iowa's leadoff caucuses with 38 percent support from Democrats. McCain was fourth with 13 percent support from the state's Republicans. The CNN/Time poll was conducted from Aug. 31 through Sept. 2, a period after the completion of the Democratic National Convention and after Sen. John McCain's announcement that Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin would be his running mate.
The CNN/Time poll was conducted by Opinion Research Corporation from Aug. 31-Sept.2 and included telephone interviews with 828 registered voters. It has a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 3.5 percentage points.

I am sure McBush will come this time around, like he did after the floods (gentle reminder his running mate wants to drill in our national parks in her home state, go ahead and vote 4 more years of big oil). To take a line from a recently popular movie V for Vendetta ," People should not fear their gov't but the gov't should fear its people". I hope who ever gets in office will uphold our laws not use them as toilet paper like Bush.

McSame (as Bush) and the female version of George Bush (Palin) are a total joke and insult to America. She has more skeletons in her closets tahn politicians with 40 years of service (see Reagan,Bushes, most Republicans,etc.). She is a threat to the security of the country if the Republicans steal this election like thay have the last two presidential. Yes they WERE STOLEN. Bush was installed by the Supreme Court, not elected. The votes were counted afterward and gore actually won.

What was to like about the speeches? Repubs have been running things the last 8 years. Listening to them last night they sound like victims. WRONG! I think McCain would do a better job than Bush has but you guys should have run him in 2000. As for polls, I guess the only one that matters will be in November. I'm confident that Obama will carry IA.

McCain has a very good shot at this with Palin, the poll was taken before her speech. People are very excited about McCain and Palin, more so now than ever. The Dems are very fearful, rightfully so, their going to get beat this election, no doubt about it. Palin is down to earth, mother of 5 and has risen throught the ranks and is NOT afraid to take on special interest groups. Barrack does not have the experence it takes to run this nation, qiute obvious! Maverick/Barracuda "08"

I think that McSame(love whomever gave him that nickname!!) is a HIPPOCRIT!!! He knocks Obama his lack of experience, but what about Palin??? She has LESS than Obama does!! Also would I feel comfortable with this woman being the head of our nation and having to negotiate with other countries should something happen to McSame?? I don't think so. Besides I am one of the middle class here in Iowa and I can tell ya the last 8 years have SUCKED!! Time for a change with Obama and Biden who GET IT!!

I can't understand why anyone would want the same Bush policies to continue on another 4 years? Look at the economy! Look at the image the US has around the world. We are not very well liked..even by our traditional allies. I vote for the person I feel is most in touch...not simply on party lines. Bush is one of the worst presidents of all time...it is time for change and not more of the same that McCain promises.

We've been sampled for these "polls" before. The pollster tried to get us to give him responses that aligned with his views. No idea if he entered our actual responses. Plus they only let you choose between Nobama or McCan't - Bob Barr is the Libertarian candidate, but Democrats and Republicans are both trying hard to stamp out third parties.

McCain a hypocrite? how so?? "then he picks Palin who has less!" - WRONG. we are talking about EXECUTIVE experience - and obama has NONE. we are voting for the Commander in chief and leader of our country, or a person who would fill that role - this is an executive position that requires someone with executive experience - and obama has none. he talks of change - but has nothing in writing. obama doesn't have a clue!

Obviously, the Demorats are running in fear. Look at the post here and on the internet blogs. How do the dems figure Obama has more to offer than Palin, she has way more on her plate than Obama ever had. Thanks to Obama for NOT picking Hillary, that was the smartest thing I have ever seen him do. Hillary looks like an old moldy raisin compared to Palin, a nice freshly picked grape. BLame the Dems for your problems, they control the senate, in Iowa and in Washington. Maverick/Barracuda "08"

If your life was so bad the last 8 years, apparently your living above and beyond your means. Was your family safe from terroist the last 8 years? Don't you think that the Dems that control the senate have something to do with these failed policies? They are the ones who pass the laws and legislation, Bush just puts it on the table, they are the one who vote on stuff. If you think your last 8 years was bad, see what happens to you if Nobama gets elected. Big gov=Big taxes=big controls.

I'm very disappointed in the Democratic leaders. They selected not elected their golden boy. Now i'm sure that some are wishing they had put Clinton onto their ticket. So be it - I am one of her supporters that will be along with my family voting got for the Repuplican ticket . I was so impressed with the Governor of Alaska that I will be sending my monies to McCain. If Obama has so much money why doesnt he help Clinton out with a few Mill? They say charity begins at home. Not Mad just sad

How are we more safe? I have family fighting in Iraq and Afgan, my father served 21 years. Our oil interests are more safe, nothing more. Now, we have openly admitted sending troops into Pakistan (which i agree with they were hitting our boys in afgan) Afgan made sense, but Iraq was a farse. We are currently making more terrorist faster then we can kill them. Explain to me please, how we are more safe? Letting Bush take more freedoms away? Allowing him to degrade what our founding fathers fought

Keep in mind that KCRG is owned by Gazette Publications, which ALWAYS backs the Repulican for president. So, you know they aren't lying on this one. Obama being ahead in the first state that he won in the primaries doesn't surprise me at all.

Its ashame that no they didnt get it has his head stuck somewhere else. Palin is more experienced than Obama. She has been mayor , and gov. What executive position has Obama been in? Nada .I think the democrates are running scared. If not being a mayor and gov. is not experienced enough why are we trying to elect someone with no experience? I would like to here this one. If running a state doesnt get it than what did we elect all the past presidents for? You make no sense to me.

That is about all I have to say, pure ignorance. Ruin the economy?? How do you break something that is already broken? Want to talk about loosing rights, how about the right to privacy. Oh yeah, that has already pretty much been taken away. AND NO ONE IS GOING TO TAKE YOUR GUNS AWAY!!!! NO ONE!!!! I am an avid hunter, so you can't call me a "tree hugger" or whatever you think. It requires a 2/3 vote of the HOUSE AND SENATE to add an amendment to the Constitution. Come on, use your brain...
