IOWA CITY - A University of Iowa poll puts Barack Obama slightly ahead of John McCain in Iowa.
The Numbers:
Barack Obama, 44%
John McCain, 38%
In January, Obama finished first in Iowa's leadoff caucuses with 38 percent support from Democrats. McCain was fourth with 13 percent support from the state's Republicans. The University of Iowa poll was conducted over a 10-day period, part of which occurred before the Russian invasion of Georgia. Some credit the international crisis for McCain's improved showing in national polls.
The University of Iowa Hawkeye Poll was conducted Aug. 4-13 and included telephone interviews with 709 registered voters. It has a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 3.7 percentage points.

Lets be honest, Iowa will vote for Obama by quite a margin. Since the Democrats took control of the congress, we have fuel and food prices going through the roof, spending even more out of control, and a level of arrogance that I have never seen before. Obama has surrounded himself with marxists and criminals, plays dirty politics (like having all of his opponents in one race taken off the ballot), and plays the race card every time he can, but he is somehow the candidate of change.

Ya know it isn't hard to get the answers that you are looking for by using very careful and specifically worded questions. In the legal world it is called leading a witness. Republicans depend on an educated not indoctrinated electorate, people who use logic not emotion to make important decisions, and people who have a sense of rugged individualism rather than those who are dependent on someone else for what they have. In Iowa City, liberal Mecca of E. Iowa there is precious little of that.

I hope most of us here can see though hype and make choice for less government. The privet sector dose things better. Oh and comrade Obama believe in some of the same ideas as the former Soviet Union. We need to ask what we can do for out country not what big government can help you out. I do not look for the government to give me any thing.

We need Obama as Pres. We need to turn around the direction this country is headed. We are not asking for handouts. We are asking our gov't to take care of America. Do you know the price of gas in Iraq is 47 cents a gallon? That is because we-the tax payers-are rebuilding their towns and schools. Shouldn't our money be spent at home? What about our schools- has Bush and McCain forgotten about us? They are more focused on other countries then their own. It's time to take back the White House

OBAMA does not produce any energy and does not know what oil mean to our economic well being. We will always need oil in some way. He is all about controlling what you can and can't do by controlling the type of energy we consume.

I just heard disturbing information on Obama's voting record in his home state. I am going to be a lot more informed this time around. If it sounds too good to be true.........

For those that believe in Obama's ability to create change... Can anyone cite single thing that he has done to bring change about with the power he has been given? He did block reform in Illinois, and has voted almost perfectly on party lines, At some point, you have to listen less to a politicians words, and more to his actions. Talk of change is worthless. Someone who will actually do it is something else. A record of ac tual change is why McCain is not so popular within his own party.

Oh yes, Mr. Obama will give us change all-right, he just hopes we wont notice it. A vote for Barry is a vote to change the United States of America, flawed though it may be, to the Union of Amerikan Socialist States. Wont that acronym look great on the uniforms of our olympic athletes? I'll take my chances with being called a racist and vote against him. Heck I've already been called that for not supporting him up to this point, I guess I'll stay the course.

He may be leading the polls now, but Iowans are way too smart not to see through this transparent candidate. His speeches are hollow with nothing backing them up. What plans does he have? Talk is cheap, lets hear some details about hisbig ideas. He is a hollow tree, looks good on the outside, but really rotten on the inside and ready to fall over. Obama Biden Ladden is not ready to lead this country.

Obama makes pretty speeches, just like the former communist leaders in europe, and tehy voted for change. Ask an \east european immigrant. Remember, you can fool all the people some of the time, but not all the people all the time. A. Lincoln. Iowa will wake up and turn DEEP RED.
