AARP Runs Health Ads in Iowa, 3 Other Swing States

By Becky Ogann

DES MOINES (AP) - The nation's largest seniors group is running television commercials in Iowa and three other swing states, attempting to force presidential candidates to address health and retirement issues.

The groups AARP and Divided We Fail have launched new television commercials in Iowa, Michigan, Florida and New Hampshire urging voters to "make sure their talk turns into real solutions."

A spokesman declined to give specifics about the ad buy but said it was part of a "multi-million dollar effort" to mobilize voters around issues key to seniors.

good for the aarp! the candidates need to make known their positions in concrete terms and not in ambiguous political spin. and then we all have to remember their promises and hold their feet to the fire to force them to live up to those promises. i think we're all very, very tired of politician's lies!

Can you show me where in the Constitution it says that health care and retirement is the government’s job or problem? I have looked and you know what, it's not in there. I did see the 10th amendment that states that ALL powers not granted to the government in the Constitution are reserved to the states and the people. If AARP took a look at other places with National Health care they would see that those places Refuse care for older people based on a cost / return formula.

I wonder AARP did not support personal savings accounts for young people for their retirement? We all know social security will not be around or if it is we will be a socialist communist country and then the powers that be will decide who gets what care. Lovely.... geeeesss

The AARP is a left leaning organization that pretends to be non profit. It is not supposed to be political but it quite obvious where they want this country to go. They should be taxed on all the insurance, etc., they sell so they can help pay for their big ideas. Investigate the salaries they pay some of their employees.
