DES MOINES (AP) - Governor Culver will face skeptics and tensions within his own party this weekend.

He'll deliver a speech at the Iowa Democratic Party's convention on Saturday.

Forces within the party are still angry about his veto of a labor-backed expansion of bargaining rights, but they want to unit as they head into the November general election.

Danny Homan is the president of Council 61 of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, the largest union representing state workers.

He says his group will have "a respectful response" to Culver.

Veteran Democratic consultant Jeff Link says there are tensions, but the attention has shifted to storms and flooding that have devastated Iowa.

At the convention, activists will finish selecting the state's 57 delegates to the party's national nominating convention in Denver this summer and approve a party platform.
