Fallon Defends his Support from Vermont-Based PAC

By Becky Ogann

DES MOINES (AP) - Democratic Congressman Leonard Boswell is accusing his Democratic rival of skirting a pledge not to take money from political action committees.

Ed Fallon says he's standing by his promise.

Fallon has been endorsed by a Vermont-based PAC called Democracy for America. It's urging members to make contributions to Fallon's campaign through the Web site ActBlue.com -- which calls itself on online clearinghouse for Democratic action.

Fallon say he has no problem with non-corporate PACs -- he just doesn't take their money.

Fallon is criticizing Boswell, saying corporate PACs and lobbyists are bankrolling the congressman's campaign.

Boswell, a six-term congressman, and Fallon, a former state senator and candidate for governor, square off in the June primary in Iowa's Third District.
