SIOUX CITY (AP) - Three-term Republican Steve King will seek re-election to Congress representing western Iowa's 5th District.

King made his announcement Friday morning in Sioux City and will repeat it later in Council Bluffs.

King has carved out a national reputation as a hard-line conservative for his views on issues such as illegal immigration and support for the war in Iraq.

He acknowledged that "standing up on principle often means taking some arrows,'' but said he's proud of his accomplishments.

King won re-election in 2006 with 59 percent of the vote.

So far, Rob Hubler is the only Democrat running for the office. Hubler is a Presbyterian minister from Council Bluffs.
