KCRG-TV9’s Mark Geary and photographer Jim Slosiarek will take part in a live chat at noon Thursday on to talk about their experience covering the Iowa soldier training.

The coverage has taken Geary and Slosiarek to Camp Ripley, Minn., Camp Shelby, Miss., and most recently to Fort Irwin, Calif.

Soldiers from the Iowa Army National Guard are preparing for deployment to Afghanistan. By Thanksgiving, 3,000 Guard troops will be on the ground in the Middle East.
