Dubuque County Inmate Pleads Not Guilty to Harassment
By Larry Burkum, KCRG-TV9
A man accused of running a fake charity has pleaded not guilty to additional charges of prostitution, assault and harassment.
51-year-old Christopher Simms entered the plea recently in Dubuque District Court.
The Dubuque Telegraph Herald reports Simms is accused of offering money to an inmate at the Dubuque County Jail in exchange for a sexual act. Police say he also inappropriately touched another inmate, and made inappropriate comments to inmates in the shower.
In a separate case, Simms is accused of running a fake charity and using donations for personal use. Dubuque police say the Forged by Fire charity promised to use donations to help military personnel.
Simms is charged with fraud and theft in that case.
