CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG-TV9) -- Plan on a mix of rain and snow across the region today. We have a lot going on, with a light glaze of ice and light snowfall amounts (less than 1") possible along/north of Highway 20 today. Farther south, the precipitation should stay as mainly rain. Highs for the day should be hit around 11am or noon with a substantial temperature drop this afternoon.
As the cold front moves across in the early afternoon hours, a brief but substantial period of strong wind is likely and gusts to 40mph may occur.
The precipitation should be wrapped up around 4-5pm with a small period of clearing sky. A quick as we clear though, more clouds will race in ahead of our next system set to move in tomorrow.
