Strong winds will finally start to come down

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG-TV9) - Gusty winds from the west and northwest are still here for the rest of Wednesday. They should be sustained around 15 to 25 mph, sometimes getting up to 30 mph. That isn’t as high as it was Monday night and Tuesday, but it’s still pretty noticeable. The good news is that those winds will back off Wednesday night. They’ll fall to around 10 to 20 mph, and remain in that range on Thursday.

The next weather system that may affect us comes our way late Friday into Friday night. It’s a fast-moving one, and may graze northeastern Iowa with light snow or flurries. The bulk of the snow should fall to our east in Wisconsin, and even there it’s looking fairly light.
