Snow ends, but cold temperatures will keep travel tricky

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG-TV9) - The messy wintry mix and snow will end Thursday afternoon and mostly be out before the evening commute. However, streets and sidewalks won’t get better right away just because the snow has stopped falling. With temperatures in the single digits and lower teens, treatments will be less effective at melting away the snow and ice that formed. Even if the main highways are okay, streets and rural roads may not be. If it looks wet, assume it’s icy!

Wind chills will fall to around -10 to -15 by Friday morning and should remain below zero even in the afternoon. Cold weather will last into early next week.
