CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG-TV9) -- Enjoy the mild and low humidity conditions while it lasts. Typical summertime heat and muggy air look to return for Wednesday and Thursday.
A warm front will move north through the area early on Tuesday, putting eastern Iowa in a warm and much stickier air mass for Wednesday and Thursday. Highs will be in the middle 80s, and dew points will be in the 60s and 70s.
The return of heat and moisture will prime our atmosphere for possible storms beginning Wednesday night. A weak cold front will be moving into northwestern Iowa, and will likely initiate the storms, pushing them into the TV9 viewing area in the evening and overnight.
The same front will be stalled out in our vicinity on Thursday, and could trigger more storms during the afternoon and Thursday night. Each round does have the potential for strong to possibly severe weather.
The First Alert Storm Team will continue to fine tune the forecast as we move closer to Wednesday.
