CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG-TV9) - Would you like to send you name to the sun? Yes, believe it or not, you can do it this summer!

During the summer of 2018, NASA’s Parker Solar Probe will head toward the sun. In fact, the probe is supposed to travel through the sun’s atmosphere, giving us some of the closest ever observations of our nearest star. More details about the mission can be found here.

The mission will launch from the Kennedy Space Center using a Delta IV-Heavy with Upper Stage rocket. Right now the launch window opens on July 31 and closes on August 19.

NASA is inviting anyone to submit their name to be included on a microchip on the Parker Solar Probe. Here is the link to get your name included.

Check it out now - you only have until April 27 to get your name on a journey to the sun!
