CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG-TV9) -- We have three finalists for the October KCRG-TV9 Student of the Month.
Annie Johnson is a Seventh Grader in Independence. Besides doing well in the classroom, Annie set a goal and read 20-thousand pages worth of books last school year. She’s also involved in agriculture: working with 4-H, showing heifers and raising hogs. She joined the Future Farmers of America’s meat judging team.
Madelyn Luegering is a 11th grader at Iowa City West. She excels in the classroom, taking honors courses in Math, Science and English and also takes part in the PALS student mentoring and leadership program. She also takes part in the Business Professionals of America club and finished third at the group’s state competition last year. She was part of a group of students that spearheaded turning a classroom into a student-run coffee shop at West High. Outside of school, Madelyn is working to volunteer for the Iowa City Animal Shelter.
Noah George is a senior at Center Point-Urbana. Noah is very involved in music – playing trumpet in marching, concert and jazz band and singing in choir, show choir and jazz ensemble. Noah is also a mentor for robotics and job shadowed at Rockwell Collins. Noah’s father was deployed to Iraq twice when he was a young boy and Noah took the added responsibility as the “man of the house” seriously ever since.
