Vote for November's Student of the Month

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG-TV9) - We have three outstanding students as finalists for the KCRG-TV9 Student of the Month.

Sarah Altemeier - Senior at Cedar Rapids Washington.
Sarah is the Editor-in-Chief for the school newspaper. She also volunteers with the school's mentors in violence prevention program. Sarah runs cross country and works a part-time job while ranking in the top 10 in her class for grades.

Maggie Burke - Senior at Center Point-Urbana.
Maggie is very active in rodeo events, winning the 2017-18 crown as Iowa High School Rodeo Queen and placed 10th at the Nationals in Wyoming. She also competes in pole bending, barrel racing and roping events. Maggie is also involved in soccer, softball, cross country and performs in musicals. Maggie is Senior Class President, maintains as 4.0 GPA and is a member of the National Honor Society.

Andrew Salas, Freshman, West Delaware.
Andrew competes in solving the Rubik's Cube, cracking the cube of 3x3 in about 20 seconds. Andrew hopes to use those analytics skills for a career with NASA or SpaceX and plans to take an Engineering class for college credit. He earned the Outstanding Character Traits award at school. Andrew also takes part in cross country, marching band, jazz band, show choir band, Future Business Leaders of America and even runs tech for the school plays.
