CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG-TV9) -- People began shucking corn Thursday for the annual St. Jude Catholic Church Sweet Corn Festival.

Volunteers shuck 25,000 ears of corn for the St. Jude Catholic Church's Sweet Corn Festival in Cedar Rapids on Thursday, Aug. 9, 2018 (KCRG-TV9)

Volunteers made their way through 25,000 ears of corn, which will be boiled and served over the weekend at the annual festival.

"I'd have to say it's probably the best corn we've ever had. It's a great crop this year, so it's going to be wonderful corn, sweet, hot buttered on a stick and ready to eat," said Wesley Huisinga, the cooking tent co-chair.

The festival runs Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Other food will also be served.
