CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG-TV9) -- Vice President Mike Pence will visit Cedar Rapids Wednesday to campaign for Rep. Rod Blum.
According to Congressman Blum's office, Pence will tour Rockwell Collins. No word on if the public may attend.
Blum's office released the following statement:
"Rockwell Collins is a leader in aviation and high-integrity solutions for commercial and military customers around the world-- and the largest employer in the First District. I am glad that Vice President Pence will be able to join us to see their technology first hand and meet with employees."
In Dubuque on Monday, July 9, Blum said he looks forward to Pence's visit so he can discuss issues.
"This is another good opportunity for me to bend the vice president's ear about the first district, and we'll probably talk about trade, if I had to guess," he said.
In response to the planned visit, Abby Finkenauer released this statement:
"Unless Rod Blum is hosting a meeting between the Vice President and our soybean and corn farmers and pork producers, where they can personally tell the administration how their trade war is devastating to Iowa families, then he’s not doing his job. Blum continues to put politics over Iowans and we literally can no longer afford his lack of leadership."
Vice President Mike Pence will be in Cedar Rapids Wednesday to campaign for Rep. Rod Blum.
The Kansas City Star reports the Vice President will be speaking in Kansas City earlier on Wednesday at a separate campaign event. He'll fly to Cedar Rapids later in the day for the event with Rep. Blum.
Rep. Blum is expected to face a difficult reelection effort against Democrat Abbey Finkenauer.
Call to Rep. Blum's office for specific details of the event have not yet been answered.
