UnityPoint and Amerigroup reach contract agreement

DES MOINES, Iowa (KCRG-TV9) -- UnityPoint Health has reached an agreement with one of the private companies that manage Iowa's Medicaid program. Their contract had expired at the end of last year.

The agreement means UnityPoint Health will continue to be a part of the Amerigroup provider network.

Any Medicaid patients with Amerigroup who use any of UnityPoint's clinics or hospitals don't have to make changes.

This is likely a relief to many across the state after another one of the Medicaid managing companies in Medicaid dropped out of the state completely last year.

The Unity Point hospitals in eastern Iowa include St. Luke's in Cedar Rapids, Finley in Dubuque, and Allen in Waterloo.
