CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG-TV9) -- A health clinic in Cedar Rapids will soon be able to serve twice as many children with mental health needs.

Tuesday, Tanager Place announced it raised more than $6.5 million to purchase and renovate the behavioral health clinic on Fifth Avenue SE.

The clinic serves children with depression and other mental health diagnosis, as well as those on the autism spectrum and with behavioral health needs.

Tanager said the money will have an impact on children in the Cedar Rapids area for years to come.

"The reality that they believe in us and are willing to donate and believe in our purpose and mission could change children's lives has been an honor to receive that level of commitment and giving," said clinical manager Tonya Hotchkin.

Tanager has been offering mental health services since 1879.
