Soules trial set to start by May

BUCHANAN COUNTY, Iowa (KCRG-TV9) -- Records filed on January 8 say during a conference call on January 4 Chris Soules moved to continue the trial, which was scheduled to begin on January 18, 2018.

The State didn't resist the motion, or Soules' motion to extend the discovery deadlines and deadlines for filing-pretrial motions and notices of defenses.

A trial scheduling conference will be held January 29 at 11:45 a.m.

During the conference, they will schedule a new pre-trial conference and jury trial dates.

Records say the trial will begin before May 7, 2018.

Soules is charged with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death. He's accused of crashing into the back of a tractor on April 24, 2017, near Aurora. Kenneth Mosher, 66, was driving that tractor and died at the scene.

Soules did call 911, but authorities say he left the scene before they arrived.
