DES MOINES, Iowa (KCCI) - The man accused of killing two metro police officers in ambush-style attacks pleaded guilty and was quickly sentenced in court Friday.
Scott Greene changed his plea from not guilty to guilty in court at a status conference.
Greene now pleads guilty to two charges of first-degree murder in the deaths of Des Moines police Sgt. Anthony Beminio and Urbandale Officer Justin Martin.
His trial was set for September in Dubuque County.
The 46-year-old has been jailed since he was charged in the Nov. 1 shootings. After changing his plea, he also requested sentencing.
Family members of Beminio and Martin read victim impact statements. The judge then quickly sentenced Greene on two counts of first-degree murder to consecutive sentences of imprisonment not to exceed two life sentences.
