UPDATE: Foot wedged into accelerator leads to SUV crash into Oakland Road Hy-Vee

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG-TV9) -- A 77-year-old woman told Cedar Rapids Police her foot became wedged into the accelerator of the SUV she was driving when it crashed into the Hy-Vee at 3235 Oakland Road NE.

Police said it happened just after 3 p.m. Friday.

Officers said the woman and a 79-year-old male passenger were inside the store when they arrived. Both went to a hospital to be checked out.

Employees tell KCRG-TV9 the impact was hard enough to knock alcohol bottles off the shelves inside the store.

Cedar Rapids Police said an SUV jumped the curb and hit an exterior wall of a grocery story on the northeast side.

Police said it happened just after 3 p.m. Friday at the Hy-Vee at 3235 Oakland Rd NE. They said two people in the SUV went to the hospital to be checked out.

Employees tell KCRG-TV9 the impact was hard enough to knock alcohol bottles off the shelves inside the store.
