Rep. Loebsack works to provide job training for veterans

WASHINGTON, D.C. (KCRG-TV9) -- U.S. Congressman Dave Loebsack has introduced legislation to help veterans find jobs once they return home. It's called the Veterans Employment Training or VET Act.

It encourages employers who cannot find people with the right skills for new positions to apply for grants through the Department of Labor. Each grant would fund a new job training program exclusively for veterans at a local community college.

Loebsack says the biggest struggle for veterans when they get home is returning to the workforce.

Loebsack is a democrat who represents the second congressional district of Iowa. That district includes Iowa City, Davenport, Ottumwa and Keokuk.
