CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG-TV9) -- Go big or go home! This is one of the best setups you can have to break a record high in February. Given the dry ground, ample sunshine and southwest breeze, it's all the table. Now, it's up to the thermometers to get up to those records set back in 1981.
Our current forecast is a tie in Waterloo and Cedar Rapids, with a break by one degree at Iowa City and Dubuque. These records are at area airports, and does not take into account that residential areas may be 1-3 degrees higher than the official airport readings.
70 is also possible today. If this occurs, it would mainly be south of I-80, especially around Washington, Sigourney, and Mount Pleasant. Briefly, portions of the Iowa City metro area could briefly get there as well.
