Rainfall totals thus far, additional rain to come

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG-TV9) -- Over the past 24 hours, most of the TV9 viewing area picked up a decent amount of rain as a low pressure center drew closer. Some even broke daily records for October 6th. Waterloo and Dubuque broke their daily rainfall record. Waterloo accumulated 1.49” yesterday, breaking their old record of 0.74” set back in 1974. Dubuque accumulated 1.33” yesterday, breaking their old record of 1.05” set back in 1921.

Additional rain is expected throughout the afternoon as the low pressure center continues to spin counterclockwise in western Iowa. Once the second round of rain moves through skies will begin to clear. As for Sunday, with a little more sunshine and winds out of the south, high temperatures will climb into the middle to upper 70s.
