PRAIRIEBURG, Iowa (KCRG-TV9) -- The mayor of the small town of Prairieburg in Linn County has suffered a stroke.

City officials said Mayor Arlene Holub went to a Cedar Rapids hospital Friday morning where doctors are said to have found a brain bleed.

Council Member Sondra Marsh said she has been in contact with Holub’s daughter who reported her mother was conscious and communicating. Marsh said the mayor may have some paralysis in her left leg.

Holub was elected as mayor in 2015. She is in the middle of a four-year term that expires at the end of 2019.
