CHARLES CITY, Iowa (KCRG-TV9) -- Missing items from a gravesite and a hidden camera helped Charles City Police nab a man stealing items from those who are mourning.

On Thursday, police posted pictures from the hidden camera to their Facebook page. Just four hours later, they posted they made an arrest in the case.

Police say they took reports of items stolen from Riverside Cemetery. A person used a hidden camera, which showed a man stealing Christmas lights from a small tree next to a gravesite.

With the help of people contacting officers, police arrested 43-year-old Terry Brandt of Charles City. He faces charges of theft and possessing stolen property taken from a cemetery.

Officers found many items they say appear to be stolen from gravesites at three locations: a home in the 500 block of Hulin Street, as well as in the 400 block of North Jackson Street and 200 block of Ferguson Street.

Police recovered many items which appear to have been taken from gravesites from around Charles City and Floyd County. Police ask you call Captain Brandon Franke at (641) 228-3366 to see if they may have any items stolen from you.
