Outreach officers use humor to tell compelling messages

AMES, Iowa (KCCI) -- Two Ames police officers are using a new way to teach others to respect others.

The police department shared a video on Facebook and Twitter earlier this week, offering free donuts for those following the laws, and being respectful.

Both posts have been very popular.

"We had no idea it would take off the way that it did," Officer Anthony Greiter said. "There's been a lot of feedback, national, international coverage, and it's been amazing. I truly think that it's been impactful."

The outreach officers say they expect to continue their city- and campuswide doughnut campaign for at least the next few weeks.
