One person dead in Johnson County single-vehicle accident

JOHNSON COUNTY, Iowa (KCRG-TV9) -- One person is dead after a crash that happened in Johnson County early this morning.

Police responded to the single-vehicle accident on I-380 southbound at 1:03 a.m. on January 3.

Officials say the ice or snow on the road caused the driver to go into the ditch west of North Liberty near mile marker 8.

Wednesday morning, the Iowa State Patrol identified the victim as Randall Palmer Martin. He was 64 and from North Liberty.

They say the car rolled onto its top and Martin was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Iowa State Patrol was assisted by the Johnson County Sheriff's Office and Swisher Fire Department.
