Man dies after grader is hit by train in Chickasaw County

CHICKASAW COUNTY, Iowa (KCRG-TV9) -- A Nashua man died after a grader vs. train accident in Chickasaw County this morning.

Iowa State Patrol responded to an accident on Jasper Avenue and B57 at 7:45 a.m. on January 12.

A Caterpillar Grader driven by David Zwanziger, 64, of Nashua, was plowing when it was hit by a Canadian Pacific train.

Zwanziger was not wearing a seatbelt and died in the crash.

The accident is under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol.

The Chickasaw County and New Hampton Fire Department Rescue Squad assisted at the scene.
